Amy Renshaw
Amy Renshaw is an artist, designer and maker of a distinct range of precious jewellery and small objects. Her contemporary designs are individually handmade, with careful consideration and a love of the materials. Her range is geometrically strong, combined with embossed or asymmetric details, following a ’simple and refined’ design philosophy. She shows regularly in group and solo exhibitions and is highly sought after in Australia and overseas for the commission of one off pieces.
In Amy’s own words “My work concentrates on geometric shapes of crisp, clean, refined lines. Uncomplicated, simple forms, combined with asymmetrical detail or an element of something unexpected. I am intrigued by the limitless possibilities of colour and its application in the creation of small precious objects. Integrating acrylic materials, with the durability, strength and beauty of gold and silver. The pure whiteness of silver against vibrant red or the warmth of yellow gold with opaques.
Recently my work has incorporated embossing techniques and relief works that explore more ornate imagery. I intend this as a reference to something 'old worldly', antique or elusive to time or date.”
Durability and wearability are also elements Amy feels are very important. Each piece is made with careful consideration and stems from a love of the materials and the joy of making.
