Eames inspired table hand made by using local sustainable timbers from Australia to match your Eames LCW chairs.
Simon Parson
Simon and I catch up at his Furniture workshop in Fremantle. It's a large space, to create big and great pieces like the Eames inspired tables. He's surrounded with multiple kinds of timber, products and a sketch book with proto-type drawings of his latest ideas.Simon arrived in Australia 16yrs ago from the UK. He studied a BA in Furniture and has since won an award of Excellence by the Australian Wood Review in the Maximise Competition which acknowledges timber inovation with a Green Star rating. His ethos is eco sustainability and he tries to work and live these ideals. Most of his timbers are milled locally in Fremantle and on the whole are created from fallen wood around WA. Interestingly, he makes wooden bowls as personal gifts for his friends. Each bowl is like a wine label, he can name the geographpic origins of the fallen wood ie: Margaret River etc.
His handmade Eames inspired tables have been designed to fit with the famous 1940's iconic Eames LCW (lounge, chair, wood) chairs, replicating the beautiful organic moulded timber shapes. Simon uses Australian hoop plywood from sustainable forests to build the table structure then completes the face surface with hand-cut American black walnut timber veneers.
The Eames inspired tables can be custom made and available to order online with Sooper Design in 2.3 and 2.8mt lengths.
