Linda Bratloff was ‘tickled’ by the inspiring garden surrounding her new country style home. Although not particularly green thumbed, her interest in gardening and passion for design, form and colour gripped upon the idea of turning the common old green garden hose with orange nozzles into something a little more exclusive, high quality and fun.

These glamorous garden accessories are designed to add a beautiful aesthetic to your garden wall and have you tip toeing through your tulips and dancing around your garden like everyone is watching.

The hoses are manufactured in Scandanavia to highest quality standards. This means that the tube has tricot reinforcement around the inner tube, instead of the cheaper cross-reinforcement making the hose pliable and flexible and preventing kinking.
The outer plastic has a dirt resistant surface and is UV-protected so that the hose will stay looking great year after year.

The colours can be mix and matched for a look that is elegant or quirky.

Jump From Paper is a new line of unique handbags that uses thick graphic outlines and bright colours to look like they are a 2D illustration.

They look like they’re completely flat from the angle the bag has been drawn/made. In reality, they actually have room for your camera, laptops and everyday accessories. This particular bag is called ‘Cheese’.

Using neutral colour and multiple textures from timber engraved walls, light timber floors, lots of natural light and optical lines. I really like the way spaces are becoming visual works of art, encouraging the viewer to be drawn in and engaged into the environment. Where the rooms, stairways become a walk in and working 3D sculptural space.

Mirae Medical Foundation in Korea is also another stunning use of timber and optical illusions created out of space and shape. The interior is a collaboration of work between Prof. Jang Soon Gak and Jay in Working. The organic shapes the use of negative and positive space combined with clever use of light brings the ‘work space’ into a ‘gallery space’.

I’m in a mood, where I just want to see and experience ‘natural beauty’. Organic shapes, timber materials or leather. Understated with great detail or expression. Here are a couple of products that inspire me as being considered and  somehow linked closely to nature.

Paul Loh and David Leggett are LLDS/Power to Make, an experimental design orientated practice that operates between art and architecture as cultural processes and social interaction. ‘Our work is always a response, a process, a dialogue and an active reflection on contemporary culture’ they say ‘We see architecture and our furniture based artwork not as objects, rather as spatial interfaces and sensory apparatus expressed through deep material understanding and organisation. An Array is a systematic arrangement of objects. The morphology of this collection is based on a single based profile rotated around a point. The z-axis is then manipulated with the sinusoid function y(t) = A · sin(ωt + ɸ). Variations to the axis location produce differentiated effects and volume.

The Array series explores an evolution of topological form, between an inexact free form curvature and mathematical functions; Form that is stretched via mathematics, volume that is created through arbitrary shapes. This geometric logic form the bases of our parametric model – the number of members, the scale and the shape are adjustable allowing us to produce endless variations within a single topology – so a bowl, a basket, a chair, a table are interconnected. They are the same and different at the same time; same in topology, different in use.

Outside of the Array timber series is the Interlocking Wine rack that plays with repetition and the extendibility of a geometric pattern to create an interactive and fun product.

Australian Designer Peter Mclisky laser cuts fun and funky objects from raw steel in his Melbourne studio.

Lucy Amber is the architect/designer hand making beautiful rope bowls, vessels, lamp shades and vases by weaving rope into objects. The brand is known as Thread Architecture for obvious reasons.

The genesis of Amber’s sense of form, texture and colour began in childhood, experimenting with knitting, sewing, painting and pottery. These artistic roots led to her career in architecture and has progressed to the creation of sculptural, functional rope lampshades, vessels and vase sleeves.  After 15 years in architecture, Amber has taken the opportunity to pull together the various threads of her creative life and fashion a career as a full time artist and designer.

The current collection focuses on the cross pollination of rope, knitting and macramé, resulting in works of colourful art that are evocative. Thread Architecture crafts tactile pieces which engage the senses; art you can touch, feel, see and use. A vase, a vessel, a lampshade or a one-off objet d’art, the bespoke pieces enhance and complement existing decor and encapsulate what happens when form and design merge with creative talent. Firstly, Jess Cameron-Wootten is a 2nd generation leather craftsman making beautiful bespoke shoes, aprons, belts for men and women. His father Ross, started the Wootten shoe business in the 1970′s making the highest quality shoes, with each pair going through over 80 hand held processes before completion.
